Intel will soon release processors for laptops ALDER LAKEHX with 16 cores
- Mar 23
In GeekBench, you can find as many three Alder Lake-HX processors listed with information about their basic characteristics. These are powerful processors for laptops based on BGA version of desktop 16-nuclear silicon. This means that flagship SKU HX, such as the recently registered Core i9-12950hx and i9-12900hx (leaning earlier), will become the first Intel consumer processors for laptops with 16 nuclei and 24 threads.
In total, now three 16-nuclear parts: i9-12950hx, i9-12900hx and i7-12850hx, the latter turns out to be 100 MHz faster than 12800h, but at the same time it offers 2 kernels. The specifications of the first parts are not yet clear, because both have appeared with a maximum frequency of 4.9 GHz, so the changes are likely to be visible in the basic clock frequencies (which software does not report).
Intel also releases Core i5-12600HX with 12 nuclei and 16 threads, that is, as much as the "original" 12600H, except for increasing the frequency to 4.6 GHz (that is, 100 MHz faster).
From the point of view of performance, the Intel Alder Lake-HX series will now occupy the top positions in the benchmarks of GEEKBENCH CPU, leaving far behind the flagship processor AMD Ryzen 6000hx Rembrandt / Zen3.
The 12th generation Alder Lake-HX series was specified in some very old leaks as a "Muscle" segment with a base power of 55 W. Judging by GEEKBENCH records, it can be concluded that the HX series will be used by mobile workstations with NVIDIA RTX A5500 / A1000 graphics processors.
