Overcoming limits Roskosmos has created an algorithm that increases the transmission volume from satellites 10 times
- Mar 23
The problem of data transfer rate occurred in modern space systems. Since radio communication has practically reached the limit, and increase the speed of hardware is too expensive, the whole world is looking for ways to speed up the program. And Russian scientists have found a way out. Read more about it in our material.
The main problem is in the amount of data transmitted. Satellites of remote sensing of the Earth (DZZ) preferably transmit photographs of the surface. At the same time, the quality of the pictures is principled, and, as you know, the quality is directly proportional to the size of the file. Accordingly, the transmission time increases.
And since modern high-speed radiolines have practically reached the so-called Shannon border (limiting the maximum data transfer rate through a channel with a specified interference level) to solve the hardware problem (put additional equipment) is not possible. Since in this case the weight and cost of the system increases and its reliability decreases.
The ambitious Russian IT project Sfera creates a digital ecosystem to facilitate user tasks. Read more about the new product. The project approaches the release and is open to investors. Thanks for the support!
The answer was found in archiving files. Everyone knows "household" archivers WinRar, Zip and Others. However, their compression algorithms do not give sufficient effect. In addition, they are unreliable when archiving optical pictures, since with high-speed transmission, data loss are possible.
Holding Engineers "Russian Space Systems", based on the electronic component base of satellites, developed their own compression algorithm. It will increase the amount of transmitted information from 1.2 to 10 times.
And this is really a breakthrough solution, which is no analogues in the world. In Western developments, or suffers from file compression, or data loss is observed.
There is information that such an algorithm will be used in satellites for the Internet. Now they are developed by Roskosmos within the framework of the "Sphere" project. That is, space technologies will be integrated into the life of ordinary users. Thus, scientific breakthroughs from abstract utility will move into a specific one.
Does this mean that the Russian space industry is becoming a locomotive of technical progress? And will the "Roskosmos" will be able to introduce new technologies?
