For several years now in various sectors of the Russian industry, import substitution is implemented. Recent events are forced to speed up this process, especially in strategically important areas.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade reported that the PD-8 motor for Sukhoi Superjet will be certified in a very short time. This is caused by the need to replace the French SAM146 engine. Simultaneously plan to build up and production SuperJet 100.
Sukhoi Superjet 100 is the first civilian Russian-made civilian. He belongs to the family of regional courts. The range of the basic version is 4400 km, the capacity is 98 passengers. Now in this model of aircraft used by the engine of French production SAM146.
For the first time on import-substitution of engines for aircraft spoke back in 2019. For known reasons, this process decided to speed up.
The head of the Ministry of Denis Manturov said that now there are all the possibilities to produce up to 40 units of SuperJet 100 per year. It is planned to achieve this level of production in the coming years.

Manturov also set the task to certify PD-8 after 12-14 months, and in 2023 to conduct first tests. Such deadlines for the creation of an aircraft engine are considered unprecedentedly compressed, but they are due to the current state of affairs. Now the question of sovereignty in aviation is more relevant.
During the meeting, several more projects were discussed: L-410, Baikal and TVS-44. Among other things in the Ministry of Industry, they decided to call airplanes with simpler names. Now TVS-44 in honor of the river is called "Ladoga".
The Ministry of Industry and Trade came to the issue of importing aircraft engines. According to representatives of the department, after a year, SuperJet 100 will be presented in an improved configuration, with a domestic engine PD-8.
Will Russia succeed in achieving complete independence from imported components? And when will it happen?
