AMD ZEN 4 Raphael and DDR5 officially from the manufacturer
- Apr 17
From the moment of the appearance of a series of Intel processors of the 12th generation "Alder Lake", it became clear that we are still far from DDR5 reached consumers. It is mainly due to the fact that DDR5 is a new technology, and the production lines take time to catch up to such an extent that it will cease to be a problem. Also important platforms that can use this type of memory are also important.
The next-generation DDR5 platforms are already in development: Series Intel Core Raptor Lake 13th Generation and AMD Zen4 Raphael, both are expected by the end of this year. But it is worth recalling that both companies already have platforms with support for DDR5: Intel Alder Lake for desktop computers and mobile devices and AMD Rembrandt for laptops. Intel has taken the right decision by supporting the DDR5 and DDR4 Specifications with Alder Lake, but it's time to go to DDR5 (according to both companies).
During the webinar "Meeting with Experts", Joseph Tao, Memory Support Manager in AMD, said that the company will produce "Big Furior" with DDR5 acceleration. Speeds that are "impossible" may be possible. This clearly indicates that we can finally see the fast DDR5 memory, which will bring both platforms to a new level.
Memory makers are already offered such speeds as DDR5-6400, but finding something faster is really difficult. These companies are currently focused on providing a speed of 7000 MT / s in a mass order, which is often mentioned in press releases for future products. Speed above 8000 Mt / s are still an area of extreme acceleration with liquid nitrogen. In their forecast statements, some brands confirm their plans to ensure 12,600 MT / s at some point in the future.
