Google on android smartphones is prohibited to record phone calls
- Apr 25
Google announced interesting changes in the work of the official android application store - Play Store.
Google's Corporation has banned the use of APIs that facilitate the management of a device with disabilities (Accessible API) to record phone calls.
If we consider that for third-party software, it was the only way to record conversations, we can say that Google Corporation simply killed the application of this class in the Play Store.
According to published information, the changes will enter into force on May 11, 2022. “Accessible API is not intended for a remote record of telephone conversations and will not be used for this purpose in the future,” the Google official website says.
Many experts, commenting on Google’s decision, have not yet found a logical explanation for such changes.
It is also worth noting that the new Google policy, apparently, does not affect its own development of the company - Google Recorder.
As for the Accessible API, it is no secret that the authors of malicious in love with these functionality very much, since their operation is often found in attacks on users of Android devices.
By the way, Google promised to increase the safety of Android users from May to November 2022. This will happen in stages.
