AMD introduced its X670 EXTREME X670 and B650 chipsets for first generation AM5 motherboards
- May 24
The AMD AM5 infrastructure is based on the new socket of the LGA 1718, which initially supports processors with a capacity of up to 170 watts. The 600 series platform is equipped with a DDR5 and PCIE Gen5 memory for storage and graphics (depending on the set of microcircuits).
AMD confirmed that the X670E (Extreme) is intended for "unprecedented opportunities and extreme dispersal." It is developed to offer the PCIe Gen5 “everywhere”. On the other hand, we have X670 for “acceleration enthusiasts” with support for Gen5 storage and optional graphics. The main platform based on Chipset B650 will support the PCIe Gen5 only for data storage.
Maternal boards of the 600 series will offer up to 24 PCIe Gen5 lines for storage and graphics, up to 14 Superspeed USB 20 Gb/s (TYPEC), WIFI-E6 support with DBS/Bluetooth Low Energy 5.2. AMD also said that the motherboards of the 600 series will be equipped with four HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2. This will come in handy, given that the Ryzen desktop 7000 under the code name “Raphael” have built -in RDNA2 graphics.
AMD Smartaccess vault:
AMD also confirms that its new AM5 platform supports a new technology called Smartaccess Storage. This technology adds AMD platform technology and the decompression of the graphic processor for games with support for Microsoft DirectStorage.
