Eight people are taken to the room, give them a marker with a board, a puzzle and an hour to a decision. Translation of a post from the blog John Public.
A few years ago, I applied for participation in the IBM program for graduates, and the selection included a stage that I have never seen anywhere else. He took place in the office of the company, where a group of about 20 candidates offered to pass several tests.
One of them was group: about eight people were taken to the room, each was given a folder with the data and asked to solve the puzzle together. There was a white board and a timer, counting for 60 minutes.
At first we silently looked at our folders. Then someone said: "Let's combine all our information." He stood at the board and began to write on it with a marker. Still silence - it is unclear how to analyze it. The other began to read out his document, nothing came of it. He was interrupted.
Then another person began to fight for the marker. 60 minutes expired, the problem has not been solved. Saughty and devastated, we went to the next test.
At the end of the day, candidates were divorced in two rooms. My room was informed of good news, and I joined the IBM program.
