MSI is trying to provide as much information about the AMD AM5 platform as possible.
The company has already confirmed the AMD Expo technology for profiles for acceleration of the DDR5 memory, and also published a guide to install the AMD Ryzen 7000 processor engineering model. AMD was clearly unhappy that MSI directly transmitted all this information, because the Computex was just a demonstration, rather than complete disclosure of information. Thus, part of this information has already been deleted at the request of AMD.
But MSI clearly does not bother. During the MSI Insider broadcast, the company demonstrated the design of the AMD X670 chipset without radiators. In fact, this is the first time we see the double design of the chipset, which AMD confirmed, but did not show it.
The AMD AM5 platform with the LGA1718 socket will maintain processors with a capacity of up to 170 W PPT (socket power). The first -generation AM5 processors will be based on the Zen4 architecture with DDR5 memory support, as well as PCIe Gen5 devices. The X670 and X670 chipsets with a double design of the chipset offer up to 24 PCIe Gen5 lines for graphics and storage.
Although AMD has already confirmed, the new X670 chipsets do not require active cooling. This will greatly simplify the design of the motherboard of the AMD 600 series, reduce the cost of development and probably also means lower energy consumption.
Ryzen 7000 and X670 is only part of what will be released this fall (officially). AMD promised to provide more detailed information this summer. Maternal boards B650 should have a design with one chipset, which means even smaller radiators.
