Russian scientists modestly spoke about the failed breakthrough in the development of the wedge air missile engine
- May 17
Domestic experts have developed a new engine model for ultra -light missiles. The invention can bring Russia to the leaders of the space industry. What did Russian engineers commit an outstanding?
Scientists of developed countries have repeatedly started the development of rocket engines in the form of a wedge. However, the projects have never been brought to the end and for one reason or another were “frozen” by the leadership.
Russian scientists were the first to complete the construction of a new engine model. Successful bench tests have already been conducted. But for some reason, the media reacted coldly to this news and poorly lit it. Perhaps due to a misunderstanding of the importance of the invention. Well, in this case, we will take on this task.
The Russian IT startup SFERA has opened an acceptance of registration applications. Soon the exit of the updated version of the new digital ecosystem. Follow the news and find out the details of the link.
The peculiarity of the shape of the wedge -air missile engine is that it provides pressure on the nozzle cut, almost equal to atmospheric. So that the reactive stream retains its direction. This will allow a single -stage ultra -light missiles equally successfully perform their functions both in the near -Earth space and in space. The even stream of gases, which “shoot” when burning from the nozzle in the form of a wedge, will not pollute the elements of the engine.
Missiles will be able to carry up to 250 kg of cargo in near -Earth orbit. Compared to the engines used now (with a bell -shaped nozzle), the use of wedge -shaped units saves from 25 to 30% of the fuel.
In the future, new engines will become the basis when creating devices that can be launched every 24 hours. Now preparations for the launch of the rocket are several months.
It is also worth noting that for these engines it is planned to use new hydrogen fuel. As a result, space research expenses will be reduced.
Engine development occurs as part of the Cosmos 2.0 project, which involves the deployment of multi -seated groups in orbit. Small satellites are designed for remote sensing of the planet. The research results will be used for the development of agriculture, geodesy and cartography, and the country's defense capabilities.
American experts also began to develop such engines in the 70s, and then in the 2000s. Despite the fact that they perfectly understood the effectiveness of a new solution, they failed to complete its development. Apparently, Western space companies are not yet ready to abandon long -term space launches that provide them with profit. In Russian scientific institutes, the work on the study of wedge -air missile engines is in full swing.
Why do you think Russian engineers, thanks to brilliant technical solutions, manage to make discoveries? And why does this not succeed in American engineers with their huge budgets? Maybe the whole problem is in these budgets?
