The middle class of smartphones in the current realities is our everything. There are enough offers - various brands are presented on the Russian market, among which there are Tecno. In the fall of 2021, the Chinese company showed the line of Camon 18 smartphones - the basic version came to me for a review in which I want to share with you an opinion about the device and, possibly, open one of the new options for you. A little spoiler: my expectations were underestimated, and very in vain.

The experience of using Tecno Spark 8c prompted me to an interesting thought: no matter how we coasted inexpensive mobile devices, in the end you can use them. Frank skepticism in me with each similar smartphone remains less and less - I pick up the device, use it and understand that it can fulfill all my tasks. There are shortcomings everywhere, but the overall impression still remains positive - I like this trend.

However, the Tecno Camon 18 is a smartphone of a slightly different level, therefore there is more demand from it: I will attribute the device to the "beginning of the medium-budget segment", although for someone it will be extremely inexpensive. Its retail price at the moment is 16-17 thousand rubles: for this money we get a variation of memory 6/128 GB - I note that no competitor can boast of such an offer.

What is in a white box?

Camon 18 began to pleasantly surprise me already from the supply kit: in the box I found a power supply with a capacity of 18 W, the USB Type-C cable, documentation, paper clip, silicone transparent cover and protective film. I don’t understand why the latter is not glued to the display from the factory - both the buyer is convenient, and the manufacturer plus to karma. One way or another, if you purchased a smartphone, I recommend ordering glass for it.

Night and remote

The cover here will definitely come in handy: the back cover of the smartphone, like faces, is made of plastic, only at the back it is also glossy - I feel that the cover collects the cover willingly. I was pleased with the front surface - the frames are small, the cutout under the front -line "is not dirty" (without typical divorces for state -owned divorces at the edges). Immediately, I will add a score for the print scanner in the button - its best location, and the scanner itself works with lightning speed. On the faces, in addition to the button, there is a volume swing, Type-C connectors and 3.5 mm, a microphone and a mono-dynamic. The SIM-sneaker in the smartphone is full-fledged (even elastic band)-you can simultaneously install two SIM cards and a memory card. The smartphone weighs, no less, 200 grams. Dimensions - 168.9 mm in length, 76.7 mm in width, 8.8 mm in thickness.

An impressive screen size

I will go to the technical component and start with the display. It is based on a 6.8-inch IPS-matrix with a good margin of brightness and a 2-threaded-up-according to the sensations, the second works fine, I did not notice the interface jerks. Its pixel density (397 ppi) with a resolution of 2460x1080 points is enough to not look at the “squares” on the screen - the picture does not crumble. The display reacts adequately to the touches, including in games (we will return to them), there are no distortions at various angles of the view. The departure to cold tones is slightly noticeable, but if desired, the temperature can be adjusted in the settings. The level of brightness, as it turned out in practice, is enough - in the sun the panel does not glance. Absolutely ordinary good quality screen.

MediaTek - maybe!

The smartphone processor is an eight -core MediaTek Helio G88, operating at a frequency of up to 2 GHz. For me, the main criteria for testing were the opportunity to work normally in multitasking mode and behavior in games (even if I do not play in them). Camon 18 confidently holds up to six memory applications, and Pubg Mobile has shown itself well from the games: it automatically started on high graphics settings with the maximum screen update. The hourly session of the game significantly did not heated - warming in the area of ​​the camera block during the game was insignificant.

Tecno Camon 18 practically does not heat up when watching a video: I drove YouTube on a smartphone for three hours with one hundred percent brightness, and at least henna! Trottling test says absolutely the same thing: maximum frequency reduction is 14% of the peak power of the processor. At the same time, the Helio G88 shows impressive performance in the region of 160 GFLOPS. Enough for both gamers and ordinary users.

Very tenacious smartphone

During the day of active use of Tecno Camon 18, I managed to seize the capacity of its battery by 67%: the battery withstood the show show on YouTube for 3 hours, a game session lasting 1.5 hours, using social networks for an hour and almost 8 hours of screen time, after What is the level of charge at the mark of 33%! Up to a day and a half, the smartphone will definitely last. Can more? Depends on the owner and script. During charging, the device of record speeds does not show: the complete power supply, the power of which reaches 18 W, requires about 1 hour and 40 minutes to fully charge the battery.

The first test was pleasantly surprised: the pictures in the script "took out-scotched" are very juicy and colorful, but get a resolution of 12 megapixels (Quad Bayer, all things). For a photo in full resolution, the camera application was equipped with the Ultra HD mode. Below you can see the pictures taken as usual as a shooting mode:

The photo in full resolution immediately acquires details, but in color rendering they are no different (the exposition can “walk”):

A detailed comparison between the two modes puts everything in its place: you need juiciness and speed - the usual mode is suitable, and if you like the details, we turn on all 48 megapixels and wait a little longer.

At night, the system tightens the Super Night mode - the pictures become noticeably lighter, purchasing a little orange shade (if there are light sources nearby, and this is normal), but this does not particularly add details to the photographs. For common photos, the night mode is just right.

With the video, the smartphone is simple: shooting is possible in three resolutions - 2K, 1080p, 720p - at the same frequency of 30 frames. Resolution 2K, by the way, the present is easily checked in the file information. There is no stabilization, as I understand it - in any case, it cannot be turned on manually, and it is not noticeable in the video. The front camera has one small but pleasant feature - a flash. With its help, you can take a selfie in dark rooms or at night on the street. The feature is for an amateur, but for the presence - plus.

Communication and shell

Tecno Camon 18 has a full order with the network - both LTE and Wi -Fi (the latter are in stripes 2.4/5 GHz), whose speed measurements you could see above. NFC is and works, there are no questions to Bluetooth 5th version. For a quick print scanner, I say thank you Tecno again - yes, this is common everywhere, but how nice it is to use a quick scanner (especially after an endoed optical one).

As in the case of SPARK 8C, the Camon 18 shell is HIOS, only in this case it is updated to the 8th version (Google Updater acts as an update) and is based on Android 11. The shell has been processed a little visually - now it looks more places Nice and works quickly. There is a complete set of Google services.

Result

16-17 thousand rubles, which I spoke about at the beginning of the article - a profitable offer for such a smartphone for several reasons at once: for this money we get a pretty good display with an increased deployment, a processor with the ability to pull even heavy games, the operation of applications in the background, A camera with good quality output pictures, a capacious and long -playing battery and a perfectly working printing scanner. It has everything for comfortable daily use - even you can get used to the shell quickly, because it is not much different from other lightweight analogues.

There are also disadvantages, of course, the case is very picky, I would like to charge a little faster, and two, by and large, I would easily exchange the camera for the camera for a sensor with a wide -angle lens. The disadvantages are not fatal, but you can find what to complain about.

The conclusion is an excellent device for its cost, which certainly will not lose relevance in the next two to three years.
