The Russian orbital satellite system Honets is transformed into a new global communication system
- May 10
Recently, a high interest in domestic decisions in the field of satellite communications has been noted. The telecommunication market adapts to current realities. Accordingly, manufactured products are also modified. The orbital satellite system "Raid" is also significantly transformed.
Earlier it was assumed that the “messenger” would be part of the orbital multifunctional structure “Sphere” from Roscosmos. However, it turns out that in the process of implementation, both the purpose and the content of the group can be changed. The changes are due to urgent tasks.
Significant transformations have undergone the structure of the mobile telecommunication system "Honet". The new generation is fundamentally different from the previous one, which works only in Russia.
According to the general director of ISS Nikolai Testedov, it will be a communication system, and not just telecommunications, and "global de facto, and not de jure, as today."
The domestic IT project SFERA has opened a collection of registration applications. Soon the release of a new digital ecosystem. Read more here.
Firstly, the connection of 28 devices in a near-earth orbit with a height of 1.5 thousand kilometers will open larger prospects. The increase in the orbital grouping and the opening of other regional stations, as well as the emergence of digital services in the form of “boxing decisions” for consumers in a wide variety of industries, will be progressive.
Today, the “messenger” mainly provides the connection of the zone outside the GSM with terrestrial networks, coordinates the connection with subscribers in hard -to -reach regions. The client terminal of the system allows you to exchange electronic messages of unlimited volume and SMS, broadcast telemetric information to monitoring points, transmit data on the location of objects obtained using other navigation structures, including GLONASS.
The system of 12 satellites. Moreover, 3 satellites are located in each of 4 orbital planes.
However, large throughput is observed in the American Iridium system. For this reason, back in 2018, Russian scientists continued to use it. But Roscosmos did not stand at a crossroads for long and decided to revise the plans towards the development of the “messenger” and an increase in its throughput.
It turns out that Roscosmos finally began to listen to consumers and adapts to new conditions of the services market, where the account is not for years, but for months. So something will move from the current support orbit? What do you think?
