Until 2028 there is no gas Gazprom decided to send gas intended for SP2 for gas supply to Russian regions
- May 10
Gazprom found a way to efficiently use the idle capacities of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. Since Germany does not want to certify it in any way, they will be redirected to the gas supply of the Russian regions, primarily the northwest of the country. How can a fascination with anti -Russian sanctions provoke a deficiency of blue fuel in Germany for as many as six years? What threatens Europe attempts at gas blackmailing Russia? Read in our material.
In short, we recall the history of the long -suffering project. The construction of the SP-2 began in 2016. He was supposed to become a “twin” launched in 2012 the first “northern stream” equal to him by power. Both gas pipelines go from Russia to Germany along the bottom of the Baltic Sea, only a few different routes. “SP - 2” takes place in the territorial waters of several countries. The total throughput of two threads of the highway is 55 billion m³ of gas per year.
The German side is in dire need of increasing the supply of Russian gas and itself recognized this more than once. However, she did not dare to go against the allies through the block, when they intended at the end of 2019 in any way to prevent the launch of a almost finished gas pipeline. Many experts noted that American companies themselves intended to sell liquefied gas to European states and banally replaced the competitor.
Until the end of the term of the Republican Trump, colossal pressure was provided for the project. However, after his departure, “SP - 2” finished in just six months with a little. The matter remained for certification, but this process was very sluggish, and in connection with the latest events, it was completely stopped. All this took place under the replicas of individual figures and large consumers on the fact that Germany is not so necessary for this gas pipeline and, in general, it is time to become independent and give the road to “green” energy. And the crown of all efforts was the bankruptcy of the Nord Stream 2 AG operator.
The economic consequences of this were not long in coming - ordinary housing are already advised to save warmth. And, probably, you have to save a long time.
One of the most ambitious projects in the IT sector of recent years is the Russian startup SFERA. His fast release became possible thanks to your support. SFERA already accepts registration applications, and you can learn more about the capabilities of the new digital ecosystem by link.
As noted in Gazprom, currently two threads of a sea pipeline with a total capacity of 50 billion m³ are not used. However, they calculated in the company, this does not mean that production capacities should also idle. After all, SP-2 is not only pipes laid along the bottom of the Baltic Sea. This is also a powerful coastal infrastructure: compressor stations, a network of gas pipelines from deposits, distribution units and much more. All this can already be used today with benefit for consumers and suppliers, not expecting the weather by the sea.
At the same time, the Russian gas monopolist warned that even if anger to replace anger on the other side of the pipe to mercy, Gazprom could still launch only one of two threads, and the second - not earlier than 2028. Thus, until the pipe is completely loaded, you will have to wait at least six years.
However, they may not wait. Given the need of Russian regions for gasification, it is quite possible that Gazprom will focus on the domestic market. After all, this is albeit a state, but a commercial company, and it will do everything to earn at non -lawying capacities. And, it is likely that when in the West of content they will understand the non -alternativeness of Russian supplies, gas in the pipes of the Nord Stream 2 will not be found at all. And it will be very difficult to play back.
As in your opinion, can Gazprom be able to find a buyer for unclaimed gas volumes in the near future?
