Xiaomi 12X is the latest compact phone of the company, and unlike other compact devices available on the market right now, this is relatively cheaper - its price is $ 600 per option with 256 GB. But as you probably know, such small smartphones are not sold very well, so there are not enough options on the market, especially in this price segment below $ 600. But some people, such as me, for example, still prefer such pocket phones mainly because of their convenient design.
Therefore, as soon as Xiaomi announced 12x, I bought it for myself, since I have not had to play with such a small Android telephone for a long time. And after using it for a week or so I can say that the best in this phone is its design. I can’t remember when the last time I was so pleased to just hold the phone in my hands. Even when I walk along the street, I want to hold it in my hands, instead of holding in my pocket. Everything, starting from its curved design and ending with weight and size, seems as perfect as possible, at least for me. The assembly material on all sides of the premium class, and this camera module also looks pretty attractive. I think the only thing that prevents Xiaomi 12x from the design of the Xiaomi 12x is that it does not have any IPV rating. So I may have to carry a bag with me every time I go somewhere to protect this phone just in case.
In front Xiaomi 12x has a premium display. Along with Xiaomi 12, this is the only other smartphone in the market with a 12-bit color reproduction right now, which means that this screen can play the real Dolby Vision content, as they are processed at a speed of up to 12 bits. But for some reason, my Xiaomi 12X is experiencing difficulties with the reproduction of HDR video.
As you can see, whether on YouTube or Netflix HDR Video look much dull with low contrast on Xiaomi 12x. So yes, this is that Xiaomi needs to be corrected with the help of a future update. Viewing on this AMOLED with a frequency of 120 Hz is an oily -wing process. I would like him to have a second -generation LTPO, like the more expensive Xiaomi 12 Pro, to save energy, since this display can switch only between 60, 90 and 120 Herza. Visibility in open space here is absolutely without problems.
This display also has bends on the side, but I did not encounter any random touches, although you will notice dark edges here when viewing bright content. And unlike other cheaper devices, Xiaomi also included in the Xiaomi 12X optical fingerprint scanner, which is very responsive and easily accessible.
And by the way, it can also measure your heart rhythm. Checking it with Xiaomi Watch S1 Active, I found that their testimonies are quite similar. But since this function is hidden so deeply in the settings, I rarely remember it.
From the point of view of the sound of stereoodynamics on this phone, they sound amazing. The stereo unit is good, it becomes loud enough, and the overall sound sounds saturated enough to ensure excellent listening quality. I also did not face any problems with the quality of calls on Xiaomi 12x. But what is disappointed is that Xiaomi has installed a virtual approaching sensor for the entire 12th series. I don’t know if it is just another measure to reduce expenses, but it definitely does not look like a flagship. And I also found that his tactile feedback is weaker than expected - as a result, the process of typing the text here is not as pleasant as I would like, despite the smooth frequency of the phone.
Well, let's talk about its performance now. The Xiaomi 12X power provides the Snapdragon 870 chip, which is still a very reliable processor. It is widely considered the best flagship mobile chip last year, even superior to Snapdragon 8, thanks to its excellent power and efficiency balance. Therefore, it is unnecessary to say that Xiaomi 12x copes with my daily performance and can switch between several applications at the same time, as if nothing had happened. But one thing that I do not understand is why it still works at the two -year android 11 on the basis of MIUI 13 instead of the latest Android 12. And unlike Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro, the company also does not guarantee three years of OS and the OS and Four years of safety updates on this phone. I suppose that at best he can get two generations of the main updates of the OS, but even this means that Xiaomi 12X will not go beyond Android 13. The situation with malicious in here is also almost awkward. Despite the statements of Xiaomi about the minimum number of malicious applications on Miui 13, Xiaomi 12x are supplied with a bunch of these strange mini-games, which cannot be said about more expensive models in this line. As for the game side of things, this phone can provide a stable gameplay at a speed of 60 frames per second in all popular games, such as PUBG, Call of Duty and Asphalt 9, almost without losses in the highest settings. Surprisingly, his cooling system also copes quite well with these games, to some extent controlling the temperature. But to prevent overheating, Xiaomi clearly reduces the performance of games with a frequency of 120 frames per second, such as Critical OPS and Mech Arena, limiting them only 60 frames per second. I think this is a rather understandable step, given the small form factor of the phone, which has such a powerful Snapdragon 870 processor.
Nevertheless, Xiaomi 12x heats up quite quickly when Genshin Impact is reproduced on the highest schedule with an onput of 60 frames per second. After only 10 minutes of the game, I recorded the temperature of the processor and batteries at the level of 49 and 42 degrees Celsius. As for the gameplay, on average I received stable 43 frames per second, but from time to time there were noticeable failures. While the game fell to 27 frames per second with intensive sequences of attacks and the like. But when you do not bring the phone to the limit in resource -intensive games, it really does not heat up so much. Recently, I shot a whole video blog from Xiaomi 12x, and we were pleasantly surprised at how well he coped with the heat.
Xiaomi 12X is equipped with a triple camera equipped with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensor with OIS, as well as a 13-megapixel ultra-shaft chamber and a 5-megapixel telephone camera. As expected from the Xiaomi phone, he prefers warm rich colors to what is natural. So, if you prefer bright and colorful images with pleasant details, I am sure that you will like what this phone offers.
But his super -richell pictures are a completely different story. Along with poor details, photographs are blurry and most of the time have a worst dynamic range compared to primary images. And, perhaps, Xiaomi should not be placed a ultra -round chamber so low, since I often got similar photos where my index finger accidentally slips into the frame:
I am also not very impressed by his portrait pictures. It cannot support the proper tone of the skin, and the images have this unnatural background side and the dynamic range most of the time. And this applies to a selfie.
As for standard night photographs, they are quite muddy, despite the built -in OIS. But with the night mode, the camera provides much more clear results with excellent HDR processing.
When it comes to the video, he can even record 8k video with a frequency of 24 frames per second. But what is even more surprising is how he shoots rather stable videos in all permissions, despite the fact that 12x is completely relied on EIS and cuts off the frame a little to achieve this result. But I do not mind this. However, this is another flagship Xiaomi, which cannot record a self-video in 4K format, and a self-video in 1080p format have quite poor exposure control.
Finally, let's talk about the battery life. Xiaomi included a rather large battery with a capacity of 4500 mAh - what you will find on other compact phones, such as Galaxy S22 or ASUS 8C. But in my use, he could hardly withstand me during the day. Using them only five, maybe six hours, I found that I connect it to a charger more often than ever. In addition, its night discharge of the battery is also slightly excessive: on average it is lost from five to eight percent of the charge. Inside the box you get a fast charger with a capacity of 67 W, which completely charges this battery in less than 45 minutes. But, unlike other models of the Xiaomi 12 series, this model does not support wireless charging.
Well, let's finish this review now. Despite his bewitching design, which you can die for, I'm afraid I can’t recommend this phone so easily. I would like to love this device so much, but my biggest problem with Xiaomi 12X is that for some reason he does not feel confident. Instead, it has hints of classical marketing equipment, when the company intentionally makes a good product less attractive to sell something more expensive.
Judging by the recommended retail prices of Xiaomi, 12 and 12x are worth only a hundred dollars from each other. For this additional fee you get the latest flagship processor, which will work much better, the latest software with guaranteed updates, wireless charging and several other improvements. And all this can easily cost additional money to some people. Nevertheless, if this does not apply to you, and you are simply looking for a compact, but capable of Android-telephone, then Xiaomi 12X is still a worthy purchase, especially for computer nerds. Because, despite the whole situation with Android 11 and the future update, you may use the installation of user ROM. In the end, it works on the Qualcomm processor, which means higher chances of developing user applications.
