Intel announced the start of ASIC chip supplies for Bitcoin mining to selected clients.
Intel Senior Vice President of Architecture, Schedule and Software Raja Koduri wrote on Twitter:
In February, the company introduced the first specialized chip for mining Bonanza Mine digital gold. ASIC characteristics were significantly lower than the flagships of the market.
Already in April, Intel announced the second generation of chip for Bitcoin Blockscale Bitcoin. Journalists discovered information confirming that the manufacturer’s ASIC is superior to competitors by about 15%.
Among the first customers of Blockscale, the company called Hive Blockchain Technologies, Argo Blockchain, Griid Infrastructure and Block Jack Dorsie. The last company does not appear in the tweet of coduri about the beginning of deliveries.
The mining company entered into an agreement with the chipmaker on the purchase of equipment for the production of bitcoin in March. It was assumed that deliveries would begin in the second half of the year. In June, Hive sold about 10,000 ETH for “financing strategic relationships” with Intel.
The Argo Blockchain expressed gratitude to the manufacturer of chips and koduri personally.
In May, Argo Blockchain entered into an agreement on the purchase of 6600 bitcoin mainers based on Blockscale with Epic Blockchain. The contract provides for the possibility of additionally ordering even 23,400 installations.
Recall that in February, CEO Intel Pat Gelsinger criticized Bitcoin for influence on the environment and stated that the company's ASIC chip will help the development of technology responsible and sustained.
