The US will allocate 52 billion to support microchip manufacturers
- Aug 04
Last week, the US Senate voted to adopt a law on subsidizing microchip manufacturers. If the law is adopted, the country's authorities will send $ 52 billion on subsidies to manufacturers of semiconductors. The project also provides for the provision of tax loans to manufacturers and the allocation of $ 200 billion for stimulating scientific research in this area over the next 10 years.
After the project was approved in the Senate, it will be transferred to the House of Representatives, and from there already to the president’s table for the signature. The speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi said that the House of Representatives was ready to adopt the law. Some believe that voting under the bill can be held this week. Interestingly, in June, Nancy Peloshi and her husband sold their calls on Visa and Apple promotions and invested several million in NVIDIA Callo.
In addition to Nancy Pelosi, semiconductor companies themselves will win from the adoption of the law. First of all, these are directly manufacturers of microcircuits: Samsung, TSMC (TSM) and Intel (Intc). The first two companies are registered in South Korea and Taiwan, so they will win only if they decide to expand their production in the United States.
Intel in this situation is a more obvious beneficiary. Now the company is already building a new complex in Ohio. The total project cost is estimated at $ 100 billion and, according to the management of Intel itself, the company will not cope without state support with such expenses.
In addition to the listed manufacturers, the adoption of the law can affect other players in the industry, such as Micron (MU), Texas Instruments (TXN), NVIDIA (NVDA), Qualcomm (Qcom) and AMD (AMD).
