Iran joined the SCO and the Central Bank refused to buy Yuan And what did Hungary look for at the summit
- Sep 27
Iran has become a full -fledged SCO participant. And this despite all the efforts of the United States to put it as exemplary outskirts in the international arena. Probably, at the last meeting of the SCO, fundamental changes occurred. But what did Hungary do there?
In September of this year, the official adoption of Iran at the Shanghai organization of cooperation took place. It includes China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan. In June 2017, Pakistan and India also joined the organization.
The United States for a long time in every possible way oppressed Iran with economic repression and even designated it as a sponsor of terrorism. For the Islamic Republic, this meant a taboo on any international cooperation. However, Iran’s entry into the SCO eloquently says that American persecution was nothing more than a soap bubble.
But the adoption of Iran in the Shanghai organization is not the goal of wiping their nose to the states. This is due to other important aspects to strengthen the Russian economy. So, for example, China was sure that in the current situation in the world their silk path would develop, as the only possible alternative to Russia and Europe.
However, the admission of Iran to the SCO allows the Russian Federation to open its own trading route North - South - from Russia through Iran to India. And China does not have the opportunity to disagree with this, because he cannot abandon Russian heavy oil, on which most of the industry is tied. This resource is also mined in Iran.

The Bloomberg publication wrote that the Central Bank of Russia is going to purchase yuan for $ 70 billion to weaken the ruble exchange rate. But the Government of the Russian Federation denied this news, Interfax reported this.
Consequently, the Russian authorities do not see the Chinese currency as a reserve or basic. But still, they did not deny the information that a certain number of yuan of the Russian Federation would have to accumulate for future purchases of high -tech equipment for the development of import substitution.
The Russian government apparently considers the current ruble exchange rate optimally balanced. Since June, it is about 60 rubles per dollar. The Russian currency begins to be accepted more and more in other countries. So, for example, Egypt is preparing to include a ruble in the list of foreign currencies used within the country. We already wrote about it here.
It is worth saying that the Russian ruble cannot claim the role of the main currency in the new economic association. This issue is still being discussed among the SCO participants. By the way, Hungary came there.
This country has not entered the new economic union. But it is obvious that Hungary very carefully seeks to “chop off the anchors” and get out of the influence of the EU. And for this she needs her own currency. Of course, the euro and dollars are no longer quoted here. Accordingly, Hungary did not become an uninvited guest at the SCO meeting. And she was present as an observer with the approval of the rest of the countries, trying to find out which currency would become the main one for the Union.
