The vice-president and acting director of the unit of the mobile client platforms Intel recently made a fairly resonant statement, the essence of which is that the microprocessor giant will soon abandon the Pentium and Celeron processor brands.
Already in laptops scheduled for release in 2023 and further, the entry -level CPU will be called simply “Intel Processor”.
Pentium and Celeron brands were really cult for generation of the 1990s and 2000s. The original Pentium brand, we recall, appeared in 1993, and Celeron (a significantly simplified version of Pentium II) in 1998.
Recently, under the name Pentium, processors for a PC (mainly mobile) of the lower stratum of the average price range have been produced, and modern Celeron were used to equip primary and chrombuk laptops.
Pentium and Celeron brands flaunted in prominent places of hulls of desktop and mobile computers of all computer vendors, as a kind of quality mark.
Now only the Intel brand itself will advance.
