The VideoCardz portal was at the image of the AMD Navi 31 graphic processor block, which formed the new video cards Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT.
The AMD Navi 31 graphic processor uses chiplet design. In the center of the microcircuit is a large GCD crystal (Graphics Compute Die) based on a 5-nm technological process that includes all the GPU computing blocks and other necessary elements. Around it are six crystals of the cache (MCD). They are built using a 6-nm process. Each MCD crystal uses a double 32-bit memory controller, combined with L3 cache memory.
To date, AMD has only confirmed that the full-size GPU NAVI 31 contains 96 MB Kesh-Mapamy L3 (Infinity Cache), but the manufacturer did not specify the size of the Kesh-Mapy L0, L1 and L2. This information is clarified by Videocardz Presentation Slide, which, apparently, was shown to reporters at the presentation behind closed doors. It states that the volume of Kesh-Mapyat L0 is 3 MB, which is almost 2.5 times more than that of NAVI 21. The volume of Kesh-memory L1 is three times more and equal to 3 MB. The volume of Kesh-memory L2 increased by 50 % and is 6 MB. The memory of L3 (Infinity Cache) has a volume of 96 MB, which is 32 MB less than that of the NAVI 21 graphic processor.
The scheme above shows Navi 31 with six shader engines, which use eight pairs of executive blocks (Compute Units). Initially, it was assumed that the Radeon RX 7900 XTX has 12,288 stream processors. However, if you contact the company's website, you can note an indication of the presence of 6144 stream processors, that is, half as much. This is explained by the fact that the RDNA 3 architecture is based on the Dual Issue design, which means the implementation of two arithmetic commands FP32 at the same time, which is why we can say allegedly about 12,288 FP32 blocks or stream processors. At the same time, Navi 31 productivity increased in operations with a swimming of a single single accuracy (FP32) to 61 TFLOPS, which is more than doubled relative to the previous generation.
The slide also mentions that the RDNA3 architecture is developed taking into account the ability to operate at a frequency of 3 GHz. The same information comes from journalists who have visited the presentation of new video cards and discussed this issue with AMD representatives on the sidelines. However, it should be noted that the maximum Boost-frequency of the reference Radeon RX 7900 XTX is declared at the level of 2.5 GHz. So indicated on the AMD website. As the company is going to (and is it going) to implement support for the frequency of 3 GHz in its video cards on the architecture of the RDNA 3 is still unknown.
Above you can familiarize yourself with the actual photograph of the Navi 31 processor with added by the annotations of each chip unit provided by one of the Twitter users.
