Paleontologists discovered a tooth from a fossil spiny dormouse, Neocometes brunonis, in a clay quarry in Germany.
Today it is represented by two or three species: the Indian spiny dormouse, which lives in the forests of the Western Ghats, and the burrowing dormouse, which lives in the mountains of China and Vietnam.
A description of the find was published in the Fossil Imprint magazine.
