American physicists have presented a unique installation in which small balls float in the air under the influence of sound waves and begin to move in a strictly repeating rhythm.
It sounds complicated, but the meaning is simple: just as an ordinary crystal has a repeating “pattern” in space, so here a repeating “pattern” appears in time - the particles go through the same cycle of movement again and again.
The main feature is how the balls “push” each other.
The installation continuously receives energy from the sound source, which allows the system to behave differently than in closed conditions without external recharge.
The researchers focused on 31 objects exhibiting an average redshift of 7.3. This figure corresponds to approximately 700 million years since the Big Bang, according to the generally accepted ΛCDM model.
This result implies that their formation began shortly after the birth of the Universe, which calls into question fundamental aspects of the standard cosmological paradigm.
Particular attention was drawn to the object JADES-1050323, which has a redshift of 6.9. According to Lopez-Corredoir's calculations, its age differs significantly from the estimate of the age of the Universe at that time - about 800 million years.
These observations echo the findings of other studies, which also note unusual characteristics of galaxies recorded by the James Webb Telescope.
Scientists from Russia have created an AI-based digital assistant that can shorten the search cycle for new reactions by 180 times - from 3.5 years to one week.
As the press service of the Russian Science Foundation reported, the system has already helped to identify previously unknown reactions that are potentially significant for the creation of anticancer drugs.
At the next stage of work, which took the AI several hours, the algorithm selected 200 of the most realistic reactions that do not require expensive and rare reagents, and also occur under normal conditions.
Some of the obtained compounds are considered promising bases for the development of new drugs against cancer.
Soviet scientist, microbiologist and epidemiologist Zinaida Ermolyeva was born in 1898 on a farm in the Don Army region (now the city of Frolovo, Volgograd region).
At first, Ermolyeva’s research did not receive adequate support, but during World War II, when it became clear that penicillin was the medicine of the future, and mass production was established in the West, the USSR became interested in the new medicine.
Later, one of the creators of Western penicillin, British scientist Howard Florey, came to the USSR and brought samples of his own medicine for comparison.
The scientist and microbiologist passed away on December 2, 1974, leaving us with a tremendous scientific legacy and medicines that continue to save people's lives.
