Scientists have concluded that ancient people visited remote Arctic islands more than 4,000 years ago.

The islands are located in the area of ​​the so-called Pikialasorsuaq polynya, an area of ​​unfrozen water surrounded by sea ice.

On the island of Isbjorn, part of the Kitsissut group, archaeologists discovered traces of Paleo-Eskimos, including the remains of a round tent.

The study adds an important piece to the understanding of the history of Arctic settlement and highlights the skill and courage of ancient seafarers.
